Removing spindles

Hi All,

A pretty basic question to anyone out there that has overhauled their front suspension and wheel bearings recently. I have dismantled the passenger side assembly completely (ready to press in new bearings and box in the LCAs etc etc).

I cannot undo the drivers side spindle nuts. Before applying more force I want to be absolutely sure I'm going the right way. I.e. that the drivers side should be anti-clockwise to undo in the same way as the passenger? It would make sense to me that one would be different to the other due to the rotation direction of the wheels but the pics of spindles on the vendor sites seem to show them going the same way.

There are a couple of places on the car that are left hand but none are in any of the suspension parts so "Lefty Lousey-Righty Tighty" (counterclockwise loosens). Chrysler was the last manufacturer to finally convert all wheel lugs to right hand back in 1971.

None of the suspension bolts are reverse threads as David said.

Consider using heat, there may be some red loc-tite hiding in those threads.

You're dead right - anti-clockwise to loosen. I had to attack it with a drill in the end - came off easily with that. Heat was going to be my next step!

I don't think it was loctite - just 40 years of age!
