Hi,

I scanned & re-printed the Delorean speedometer to show 95Mph instead of 85Mph ... and finally reach 88Mph :)

That?s cool, but why stop at 95? I?m not sure what the top speed is, but I?ve had mine over a hundred several times. I would guess 120 should cover it.

Wow, that's awesome!

How (where) were you able to do that, at a race track or something? How did you measure the top speed, radar? ...or a GPS perhaps? Any chance you've got a video, or a pic of the buried speedometer?

I get my D to higher speeds often (S.FL). The only reason not 90+mph is the automatic transmission. I don't like keeping the engine at ~4000+RPM for extended time periods.

GPS, no videos or pics. Are you saying yours won?t do it? Mine is not souped up at all.

I have a 140 speedo and can attest for 128mph while running with some friends up in Michigan. I haven't gone faster (yet) but it felt like I could push it more. Engine is stock.

Cool. Any others? DeLoreans that assert/attest 100+ MPH. ??

This almost seems like a joke or trolling to me. Most modern cars can go over a hundred. If they have enough power to reasonably excellerate in traffic, they have enough power to go over a hundred. Certainly, if one particular stock car can do it, all of them probably can.

The only thing mentioned was about the auto trans not being able to do it. Is this true? Hard to believe it would make that much difference.

Definitely not intending to troll, but I understand. Question withdrawn, ok with me if admins lock the thread.

All of them? (that run, anyway). Not much mystery here, apart from the non-owners who are confused
by the 85 mph mandated speedo. I've just fitted a 170 mph speedo, but have never pushed the car
to 100, so it's really for looks only.

I may or may not have gotten up to 125 mph outside of Knoxville TN over 20 years ago. This was before GPS so had to use the RPM conversion chart.

The auto will definitely do 100+, he said he doesn’t like to keep the RPMs high though, so he doesn’t go that fast. 3rd gear in the auto is equivalent to 4th gear in the manual, so I’d guess whatever top speed is in 4th gear for a manual is the top speed for an auto.

As for why ending the speedo at 95, that’s the top speed shown in BTTF.

Awesome job! Do you happen to have just a regular 85mph print? Or could you reference the font/spacing/width in detail? If I could get the exact measurements, I?d like to make one myself. I noticed the ?MPH? font isn?t quite as bold as the rest of the font (ex: RPM/100), and wanted to know the specifics so I could tweak it a bit.

The illustrator file is above and contains everything.
