Today I had my DeLorean on display at the annual car show that I attend in Fernandina Beach, Florida. It's an amazing show every year with over 300 cars and over 15,000 spectators. Lately, I've gotten tired of the car show scene, but this show is different. I didn't hear one negative comment about the DeLorean, and not a single cocaine comment! That's the way this show is. It's just classy.
I got to speak to MANY people about the car all day, and people were taking photos of it all day. One older gentleman that I spoke to looked at the original window sticker on it, and went wild with excitement! He yelled over across the street to his friend that quickly walked over and looked at the window sticker as well. With that, the man turned around and introduced himself as Don Williamson. He then told me that he was the salesman that sold my car in 1981 at his dealership Moore Buick GMC up in Jacksonville, NC! He even handed me his business card from the dealership, that he now owns. He is on vacation down here, and decided to come check out the show!
We spoke for awhile, and he shared his memories of that car, and even remembered Robert Gooden, the
customer that he sold it to! And yes, it was the very same person that I bought it from 4 years ago!
Small world, huh! That made my day!

Here is a pic that I took of him with my car. Reunited almost 30 years later!

Wow, that's awesome! I still have a private dream of driving down to Miami and visiting the dealership that sold mine some day. This is WAY cooler, especially because of the sheer random coincidence of it all.

That's got to be near the top of the list of cool Delorean stories.

Call him and ask, he might even have one of the old DMC business cards!

He did tell me to contact him if I had any questions! I tell you this, this man was sharp! To remember pretty much everything about a car sale from 30 years ago, including the customer's name and occupation really impressed me.
It was an absolute delight to meet him, and he was genuinely happy to see this car again. It's so cool to be able to learn more about the history of my car!
What are the odds that something like this could happen?! He lives over 500 miles away and just happened to be down here in the area........!

Him and his friends were interesting to talk to. One of the guys owned one back when parts were hard to find for Deloreans. He had no clue DMC is back in business and parts are readily available! Congrats to you Ed! That will be a great story for your kids someday and your grandchildren.

Great story, but a clarification: DMC is not back in business. Delorean Motor Company Houston is in no way affiliated with the original. They own the parts inventory and that's about it. They have registered a new trademark. The old one is dead[1]

Sorry for the tangent.

Awesome story! That must've been really cool for both of you. It is a very small world.

And not that I'm being mean, but his occupation and appearance reminds me of William H. Macy's character from Fargo. I bet he's sold some Oldsmobiles in his day, too!

I still can't believe this really happened. I still have all of the original documentation from when the car was new, and the maintaince records from mile 22! I wish I had that folder with all that stuff when we talked. I'm sure it would have been an additional stroll down memory lane for him to see the dealerships mechanic signatures and such on all of those records!

You should have had him autograph the hood or left front fender.
