I came across this on another forum. This is what the ?new Delorean ? should look like. It?s a concept car from the 70s. So it could have had some influence on ours. It had 228 hp diesel power.

Yes, Giugiaro and DeLorean would certainly have known of it since it showed up in 1970.

Mercedes-Benz C111.

They were fully operational research/concept cars, 16 in total. First one ran a Wankel, subsequent units used diesels mostly. Certain speed records were broken by C111s during the 70s.
