Engine Heating Rate

Havent had a chance to drive the car much, only owned it since Feb and been replacing lots of stuff. Took her out today and noticed she was running warm… not on the dash gauge, but just, emanating a lot of heat from the bay. Standing back there I could really feel it and everything was hot to the touch… coolant hoses, tank, intake manifold, etc. All super hot to the touch. Granted, I dont go around lifting hoods on cars and touching engines, but the amount of attention Ive been giving this car I couldnt help but notice.

So question, in an ideal setting, say 80 degrees F ambient air, letting the car idle, how long would it take for the fans to run from a cold start?

Just guessing but I would say 15 minuets just idling on a cold engine for fans to come on.

After a drive the engine bay is very hot.

Ok yeah because mine gets very hot like you say. Im also working thru a high idle so thats going to exacerbate things prob. Plus an exhaust leak at the manifold so hot air is filling the bay from more spots than usual.

EDIT: Just temp scanned it and after having parked it 20 min ago the pass valve cover surface is 170F top of the intake manifold 150F, coolant bottle (stainless) is about 150F. Ambient air temp is 77F.
