A couple years ago I removed the original Craig and installed a Kenwood x890. One of its features is that it can display custom images on the display. It is kinda an interesting twist. It plays very short movie clips, displays a "slide show", can be blank or can lock on one image. The slide show is somewhat distracting so I lock into one image such as "DMC" or "DELOREAN" A few images of mine are attached.

Granted it is not a retractable display with lots of graphics capability, nor is it a car-pc, but for those who want something a little more reasonable ($$) this is an option.

The units resolution (128x23) and color (64) depth is pretty minimal so low detailed images and text looks best. I believe they made one with higher resolution but I'm not aware of the model number. The unit will also read a USB giving it lots of music depth. The real downside is that you need a manual to perform most functions. This is no "iRadio" when it comes to user interface.

FYI...

Nick

If you have an interesting radio worth sharing images, feel free to add to the post.

UPDATE: the X990 has 4096 colors...Resolution went to 256x64 not exactly HD

That's pretty neat. In some of the big fancy pop-out display models that people have, I'm sure you can avoid the inevitable show questions and get a screen shot of time circuits or flux capacitor and head them off at the pass.

I just keep one on the itouch and it shuts people up.
