finished this project.. I jumped otterstat and did decibel test before and after. they are not any quieter. just higher pitch. both registered 75 dec.
the best part about them is they have no where near the draw of the old ones... when they kicked in on first warm up you would not know it other than the fan noise. They don't drag down everything else inside the car like the old ones did.. If that makes sense..

Ive now driven the car a few times and when they kick on they dont seem as loud as the old ones. I think the engine noise drowns out the higher pitch they have. idk. Checking decibel level without engine running was not a good test. when they kicked on the first drive in traffic i barely noticed. They actually cool the car quicker so they dont stay on near as long. Overall I think a good upgrade.

You can get fans that draw 30 amps each. But what you want is enough cooling to keep you from overheating. There were a few in the EU that were using fans drawing less then 3 amps each and they were happy.

With 3A (~40W) fans you won't be able to cool the engine in summer traffic.

Well. I'm running Toby's fans and they cool my delorean sitting in summer traffic.

But what do I know about my own experience?

My offer ist still open - to have the fans with radiators professionally measured in our test system in the company.

I agree the more power the motor draws will equal more air flow. My work with the stock wiring makes me believe 25 amps for total fan power is the limit. Now if you change to two fan relays (no fan fail) you can increase that current a little but then the separate fan wiring and connectors limit is about 15 amps each. I've seen some stock fans draw around 15 amps each.

The stock relay pins will get hot above 25 amps. I've seen some of those relays rated at 60 amps (no way unless they mean a few seconds at the current).

I see a sine wave symbol so you may have it set for AC current. Each low power fan draws 7 to 10 amps. OEM fans draw more so your 10 amp scale will not work if you are testing the feed to both fans. So your reading of 0.22 amps is not correct.

That looks like one low power fan. Note your meter and test leads drop a little voltage. If your engine was running it should read higher.

Don't try to read the current of both fans (the drive of the fan relay to the fan fail), it will blow a fuse in the meter.

Yes. You will need to drop the "sway bar" if your removing OEM fans.

I can also say yes because I've done it. You will definitely have to pull the sway bar. If you have a friend that is willing to help get em because it will be a pain in the butt doing it all by yourself. I did mine myself.

Its fairly easy to remove as gravity is on your side. install is not so easy as there is a lot of twisting and angling to get it in right. due to extreme lack of patience and frustration i may have ended up shaving some of the shroud down with a dremel sanding wheel to get it back in.. not much.. just a little :o)
