My car experiment started with a b280f replacement engine after my original ate cylinder 2 while driving. Later I aquired a 3.0 Eagle Premier engine. The short answer is I used the DELOREAN lower block, 3.0 block crank and cams, original b28f heads, custom EFI and timing.
More to follow, working on fine tuning microsquirt.

In that fourth picture, it appears the engine has a lot of vacuum.

Yes it looks like I was T-boned by an 80's Chevy Silverado, then took a breathe. Good eye.

If you cant have a since of humor you could have a DELOREAN.
Today I tuned my Govenor cable for the first time in 20years, and two engines later. As I have been a sleeper on this form for years it is about time I start to be active and explain my Franken Car. My 3.0 evenfire PVR has EFI, custom fuel rails, original intake, original rocker arms, Premier Camshaft gears, evenfire cams and crank, premier fuel pressure regulator, and Microsquirt to run it all together. PVR 3.0 block running higher compressions with b28f manual lifters over the hydraulic ones. Oh and BMW fuel injectors.

I was T-boned visiting my hometown to help my dad during my college years. 80?s Chevy Silverado hit me after sliding a full block and both of us another 7ft after contact. Driver was trying to catch up to me to see the car, as he says. I can posts the journey of 1927s return and photos.

its nice to see people still playing with the PRV. I myself am in the middle of a pretty serious build, its just very slow going because everything has to be custom. I thought I lived in the machining capitol of the usa... but apparently not, I cant hardly offer enough money to machinists to do things for me. Luckily I have built a good relationship with a small hole in the wall place who will do custom stuff for me, but some of the stuff he just cant do. Oh well, it will get there. I have recently brought home a couple 3.0 engines, a b280, and a b27 (it was supposed to be a b28). Once I get ahold of a core b28 ill have the rest of the parts i need (mainly heads and cams) to jump another hurdle on my project.
Sorry to see the damage to your car, i wish you the best of luck.

Lean the idle and changed the injection to three injections per cycle as opposed to the six it was.

I've got a 3.0L PRV and what I think is an even fire 2.8L sitting in the garage (doesn't everyone keep spare engines on hand). A project I've yet to start is to build up a 3.0L with the stock DeLorean intake manifolds. Why ... I want to preserve the look of the original engine.
I thought the 2.8L intake manifold wouldn't bolt directly to the 3.0L engine. Yet it looks like you did that somehow. Somewhere someone posted doing such but each port had a tube spacer that was maybe an inch long (That's a serious SWAG). I was thinking of an aluminum spacer plate of some sort.
Did you mount the 2.8 intake manifold on the 3.0L engine ... and how did you do that? Inquiring minds want to know.
EDIT ... After posting, I reread the original post. Looks like you used the original heads on the 3.0L block. Correct?

He used the original B28F heads. You can tell by the way he did the injectors. B280F and the 3.0 heads don't have injector ports. So, before worrying about an adapter to get the manifold to fit, your first problem is figuring out how to get injectors on your engine using 3.0 heads and stock B28F manifold...
[edit] To add some further complications you'll encounter: you can't use the original valve covers with 3.0 heads. The 3.0 rocker arms are taller and will hit the ribs inside the stock B28F valve covers. You may be able to modify them to fit by grinding down the ribs.
The 3.0 head does not have the hose nipple on the back of it for the heater line. Instead, it uses a steel line coming off the water pump for the heater line which would mean you'd need to run the 3.0 water pump. In order to use the 3.0 water pump, you'd need to use the 3.0 or B280F "Y" pipe (DeLorean Y pipe connects to the water pump on the left side, 3.0 and B280F is reverse and connects on the right side of the pump). Those Y pipes do not have the threaded ports for the lambda sensor, vacuum switch or thermister.
The 2.8 B280F even-fire is even more different than the 3.0 and B28F - Different driver side head, longer driver side valve cover and the timing cover is different on the driver side.
3.0 and B280F heads don't have a place for a distributor & the camshafts don't have teeth for a distributor.
Easier to just use the stock heads.
