View Full Version : Frame & Body Rear screen finisher. Did you use the cushioning strips?

Hey guys,

I was just installing this new rear screen finisher which came with 3 'cushioning strips' (which seem like they have 40 year old adhesive on them.)

Did anyone forgo them? Or use thinner foam? I assume they sit on top of the plastic finisher, but seems to me that would raise the T-panel a little too high in the rear when I tried. Although I could use thinner foam and squeeze the tabs (which I currently have opened up) to bring it back down.

Thoughts? I assume they are only for height/tightness?

I believe the cushioning strips are more for an anti rattle cushion so the T panel doesn't vibrate against it making a noise.

Yeah I assumed that may have been the thought (or a secondary thought). I'll just use some strips that fit better. Thanks

I had to elongate the holes on my rear finish "screen" to hold the T panel down a little lower.

If you squeeze the tabs together on the T panel where the finisher holds it by, it will hold it lower/tighter.

I recently installed the DGo stainless rear finisher with excellent results. It has nice cushioning strips, is very robust compared to OE plastic, and looks amazing.
And yes, the roof panel tabs hold nicely when squeezed to contact it. Highly recommended.

Assembled yesterday with thinner foam. We're good, thanks guys.
