I was helping an owner on face book with his mixture adjustment screw. Well I have a spare mixture unit that someone took apart that I bought maybe 10 to 15 years ago. I was taking some photos so I decided to post them here since face book info gets lost forever after about one week.
The mixture screw moves the arm that the fuel distributor "piston" contacts. That screw is very fine thread and is held onto that arm with a strong spring clamp. The resulting adjustment results in the piston moving micro amounts when adjusting the mixture.
One thing to note, is that roller bearing the FD piston contacts is not a sealed bearing. So on my car and this spare unit that bearing would not spin with no friction. I cleaned my car bearing just removing the FD and using Q-tips with solvent while spinning the bearing. It made it spin with no effort. The same fix was done to this spare unit. Probably a good idea to put a drop of 3-in-one oil on. Not sure if that affected anything but it would reduce friction as the air flap moves.
