I have a annoying "rattle" back in the engine compartment. I have tightened everything I can find but it is still there. I think it is the wire mesh panels in the engine cover. I took a rubber mallet to the clips holding them in but still no change. Anybody have anything like this or other places to look?

I have been trying to locate a clunk in the right rear when in gear (automatic) with no resolution as of now.
Did you check the body brace bolts? Try removing the engine cover grilles then go for a drive. It could be a loose cover hinge or the louvers.

It is definitely the one screen on the passenger side of the engine cover. Gotten it better but still rattles sometimes. I guess continue on trying, I just don't want to take it out which would be the solution. It just wouldn't look right.

I'm impressed you can actually hear a rattle of that nature. With all the road noise, and Stage II exhaust on my car, I would never even notice it.

You could try and bent the one(s) in question or get a set of SS grilles.

I've tried bending it. It works sometimes. I think it has to do with the engine and screen harmonics because it is just the passenger side one. Now, looking into new ones.

You could try changing its harmonic resonance. Stop by a tire shop and pick up a couple of stick-on lead weights. Attached them to the bottom side of the screen.

mine was doing teh same and i found that there used to be some foam or something in between the grill and the cover, but it was almost gone. i pressed some thin rubber in sections all the way around for each grill and that ended the vibration.

I noticed that on mine also. I think I got that fixed but still a different rattle. Seems these were coming from the louvers. I tightened the bolts threw the center metal bar and now just about gone. I'm sure there are more.
