Am I the only one who finds the caliper dust boot retainers entirely inadequate on the rebuild kits?
I'm taking my vehicle out of long extended storage, and so needed to clean up the pistons and caliper bores to restore proper operation. However, when install the calipers and pads back on the rotors and apply the pedal, the dust boots just pop off. My pads aren't new, but are pretty far from end of life. The mounting surface for the boots is clean and free of grease/contamination of any sort. When I view online videos of rebuilds, the dust boot retention always looks a little feeble to me. Anyone else have these pop off after rebuild?
Any advice or opinions on what I'm doing wrong here would be welcome.
