Sway Bar

Were there slight differences in the sway bar design between model years? I pulled mine to replace the bushings and noticed that the stops where the front brackets mount look like welded washers, whereas in reference photos they appear more like smooth, rounded humps. Would this have any impact on the suspension geometry? I'd think those gaps might allow a bit of lateral movement in the LCA.

Exactly what I'm afraid of. I've owned this car for 13 years now and I'm still discovering - and undoing - the previous owner's workarounds.

I had a sway bar from vin 712 and compared it to my vin 5003. While there are some differences, the hump is the same shape and does not look like what you have in the photo. My only guess is maybe a previous owner did that in order to have a better fit against the bushings. When I had a gap between the hump and the bushing, the bar would slide left/right and knock the bushing out of the bracket.
