Sealant on water pump / y-pipe

The Volvo engine manual says that all the water pump gaskets should be applied dry. I could not find a reference in the DeLorean workshop manual.

Assuming the mating surfaces are in good shape, what is the best practice?

I am also considering the y-pipe to engine surfaces given the location.

I would appreciate any opinions.

I used Indian Heat gasket shellac the last time I put my water pump together 15 years ago. I know others who have used a light coat of copper gasket spray.

I'm old school. I would use Permatex #2 non-hardening sealer on the gaskets.

Thanks guys. I am going to ignore that manual and do what I would normally do. Just need to see what's available.
