Has anyone installed Fiero seats in their Delorean?

Although my seats are in pretty good shape for 40 years old, I have never found them to be comfortable. I thought about replacing them and just keeping them in storage for some future owner if they want stock. Or if I really like it, I could just sell these to someone that doesn’t have such a nice set.

Years ago, I read an article about comfort of differnt sports cars seats. The writer tried all kinds of cars and determined that the two clear winners were C4 Corvette seats and Fiero seats. I can con firm the C4 Corvette seats are more comfortable than any other Vettes before or since. (My wife has had many Vettes. I liked them so much that I installed a pair in a project truck I built and I love them to this day.

I took some measurements and decided that the C4 Corvette seats won’t fit good in the Delorean. I shelved the idea of changing the seats out. Recently I met a guy that has a Fiero graveyard. He has sone good condition seats that he would sell at a reasonable price. Of course, they don’t match the Delorean, but I found a site (Mr mikes) that sells kits to recover the Fiero seats. His site has pics of all kinds of cars with Fiero seats. Even Ferraris and Panteras.

So I back thinking about it. Has anybody done this? I would love some pics. If I end up doing it, I will be posting the results.

I've seen Recaro seats and Porsche 911 seats installed in a DeLorean, but never Fiero seats.

Fiero seats are great. I couldn't tell you if they fit in a DeLorean (I mean, I guess I could. I have a DeLorean and I have Fiero seats here), but yes, I do find the seats much better. I have some in another car (with Mr Mikes for upholstery).

So I watched the video of installing Mr mikes covers. I thought it looked fairly easy. But that guy probably did a thousand of them. Did you find it easy?

the seat bottom in a DeLorean sits very low. You will be challenged to find any other seat that gets your butt as close to the floor. Be cautious of this.

If you are short it is less of a concern.

Great tip. I am 6' 3" and have original seats. When being recovered extra foam was required due Lseat covers being a bit loose. Good news is the new foam provides a great feel even if it means my head is closer to the door.

I have collapsed foam in my drivers seat. I repaired it, but ended up reverting it back to where it was as I liked the seating position better :hysterical:

Curious if anyone has utilized the Houston replacement foam.

I recovered Fiero seats years ago with Mr Mikes covers. I can't remember what came with the kit, but I did get the hog rings and hog ring pliers. With that and the video, it was fairly easy. And they do look great afterwards.

Looks good. Mr. Mikes shipped and installed already? (Those bolsters may be why I increased my bolster padding. As mentioned, I can't recall exactly).

Yea, I did a poor job and they still look good. I actually covered the pax seat first. Then I realized you can swap the drivers and pax bottoms. My drivers was in real bad shape. So I removed the cover and put it on the other bottom. I wouldn?t have to remove the cover except there are three non semetrical holes in the sides. I used lots of padding, but it still did not come out like the drivers side.
