Is someone(s) near SE Michigan who has a near stock PRV and one of the newer exhausts from various vendors? I?d love to buy you a coffee/beer to take me for a spin so I can make an informed decision. Videos/recording cannot do the sound justice.

I have been considering a new exhaust for many many years. I currently have an ancient custom thing that some have hypothesized to be a knock-off of a kit Hervey used to sell. 3into1 directly into mufflers on each side. Its rusty, the o2 sensor is basically melded to the pipe by now and is not functional so i have, in all the time I?ve owned this car, never had a functional lambda system. It sounds? actually just fine. Loud. But in a sporty way. Not beautiful but not terrible. The mufflers sitting on each side actually LOOK cooler than the kits I see today (shape-wise) and grant tons of engine bay space. But no room for cats.

Honestly I?d like something more subdued- sound wise.

Purely for the looks and quality I would lean DPI. But both theirs and DMCH?s seem more performance oriented and therefore louder.

Aside from maybe finding some local folks to offer my ears a taste sometime this season: anyone have any thoughts on other options?

Both DPI and DMCH have recently changed their muffler designs so if a owner doesn't have the latest model it might not help you as much as you hope.

I have what I believe is a DPI gen one and I like it. It has no cats so it's a little loud but not annoyingly loud. The high flow systems will always be louder it's the nature of the beast, so to speak. If I were to change it I would go with Delorean go. They have a nice sound no cats and best prices.

Too bad I'm no longer in SE MI. I would go with DMC or DGo (as mentioned) If it's worth anything, my D Ind. 2023 version sounds good and is not too loud even at 2500 RPM cruising in my automatic car. DMC system is quieter overall than D Ind.

You're welcome to come to S. FL for a listen.

Our Gen. 4 is the quietest on the market.

Hello, can you explain the extra costs of your exhaust, simple enough that I can explain it to my wife? 😂

Made entirely in the United States at our facility in Akron, Ohio. No fitment disclaimers, rattles in the muffler, etc. Coupled with an industry-exclusive warranty on craftsmanship. Even people who hate us love it. (the last part should be enough for the wife explanation)

Unless they made some vast improvements, do NOT get a UK exhaust. I don't know if DGO sells the same "Stainless Exhaust Specialist" UK exhaust (I would assume they do as they look almost identical except the 2025 update), but my "stainless" UK exhaust turned to rust and Stainless Exhaust would do absolutely nothing about it, told me it's from the fixtures they use:

https://dmctalk.org/showthread.php?12355-DPI-Spec-I-v-UK-Exhaust-Comparison
(note this is the spec 1 gen 1, but the thread shows how my thousand+ dollar stainless UK exhaust came out, with no recourse)

It was also a bitch to install compared to the DPI exhaust.

Edit: If you want to see what the DPI exhaust looks like after 10+ years of service and counting, I can post a photo. Nothing like the UK exhaust. So it is not just sound you want to look for, it is longevity as well.

I have the DPI system. Quality is great. One thing I think you should consider is the ability to run cats. Even if you choose not to run them now, you should get a system that will allow it in the future. That way, if the climate change police get uppity, you can comply without to much trouble.

If I decide to get a new exhaust, getting lambda functional and adding cats to my car would be part of the project. Otherwise I'll just keep rolling with my busted, rusted old setup.

I went for a spin this weekend. I downloaded a decibel measuring app. It say the max I hit was 83 decibels, but averages 72. Really better than I expected.

I dunno, I'm waffling (like I have for literally 2 decades since I bought the car with the rusted exhaust on it :) )... sure the inoperative lambda system means I'm running rich, getting 22mpg and I'm smogging up the world like a good ol boy.... but I've been called worse.

I cannot fathom the climate police coming for Motor City.... Michigan loves our hoopties too much.

Quoting this post just to make sure OP understands how important it is. Well said.
