Replacing my car's rub strips soon and wondering if anyone has added a HD clear coat to new/NOS pieces them to prevent fade and eliminate use of cerakote wipes.
If I do it it would be satin to keep the original look.

Have not heard of that solution.

Noting that my original strips look fine with a careful wipe-and-dry application of good rubber and plastic treatment like the ones from Griot's Vinyl and Rubber Dressing or Mothers Back to Black. 2X per year or so.
Griot's treatment has UV blocking, not sure about Mothers.
(Easy to alcohol-wipe off any of it that smears onto the stainless)

I have used rubber dressing and recently tired the Wolfgang protectant and every time it gets rained on/driven in rain, there is white staining on the trim. It's getting replaced because the condition is not the greatest with some scratches plus the door sections are loose near the door handles.
