Ever since I had my front fenders off to bring the door pins up in front, I have a terrible wind noise at passenger side. I did also replace my door handles with the metal ones DMCH sells. Also had the T panel off to adjust the torsion bars. I also put a top drivers side seal on which I was running without.

The noise is really bad when there is wind blowing at the passenger side. It seems to be worse when I have the blower fan on. Seem a little better if I open a window.

Anyone have any ideas what I can try to fix this problem? Right now I plan to remove that drivers top seal off like it was before. I did try putting tape over the door seams but may try that again since I did not do all the door at one time.

You may need to replace the inner and outer door seals. Try putting duct tape over the door seams on the passenger door to verify bad door seals. You can also try the paper trick. Close the door on a dollar bill. If it slides out too easily you have a gap.Try it in several places. The outer door seals are primarily to keep rain water out of the drain channel. The inner seals keep out the wind. By adjusting the doors you probably are not getting a good fit on the inner seal anymore, especially if the seal is old and not as springy as it used to be. You can also be getting some noise from the toll window if the seals on it are old. There is supposed to be a plastic shield inside the door to keep water from getting on the door panel. Some owners have added sound deadening materiel to the inside of the door. Make sure the door is getting closed in the 2nd locking position on both the front and rear latches.

I think I found it using a 19" rack mount blower. I positioned it around at different locations and heights and hear a rattling around the A pillar near the mirror. I had to crawl over the center console to get close to the noise.

I then put tape over the front edge of the door near the windshield and that noise stopped. The outer seal looks like it seals fine there but it is old and hard. It makes sense since the door pin was moved higher on the front of both doors with my last adventure. I have new outer seals so we will see if that fixes it out on the road.

Installed the new outer door seals on the passenger side. The old seals were still pretty good so not much faith this will cure the problem. The new seals are softer but not much wider to provide more seal. It's raining cats and dogs here today so no road test yet.

FWIW my D has zero water leaks with the new (2024 purchased) DMC door seals even when driving in S. FL down pours.

Went for a drive today. I think it's better (less wind noise) but there is no side winds today. I wonder if the noise is in the door or around it. Only place I can see it getting in the door is the door handle. The new door handle does not fit as tight as the original. Next test drive I will tape over the door handle. Waiting for some windy day to test.

When I installed the new outer seal, I found you really should wait on closing the door to let the glue dry longer. It seems much stronger after sitting overnight with the door open. The Permatext glue supplied by DMCH with the seals seems to work good. You can do small sections at a time and cap the glue. There is no plugging up of the tube of glue after many applications. If you need to touch up an area, put some glue on a small tool (cut Q-tip) and do the same 10 minute wait time.

I hate the messy install of gluing the outer seals so I use this: 93085K91. Strong self-adhesive and zero mess.

I like that seal has a thicker "bulb" shown as HT, of 0.5" where the DMCH "bulb is 0.4". Did you find the doors close harder? I would not think it would change much since you install the edge of the bulb even with the edge on the fender. The lower front of my doors has a very large space to fill.

The width of the DMCH seal is 0.525" and overall width is 1.35".

No increased pressure required to close doors. Feels the same as when I got the car with original style seals. The bulb on these McMaster seals is soft but not too soft.
20ft. is the perfect amount for both sides.

PJ Grady used to sell different size door seals. The early cars needed taller door seals to properly seal. Use the paper test to make sure the seal gets compressed all around the door. If it doesn't seal not only will you get wind noise, it will leak in the rain. New seals should make the door at least a little bit harder to close till they develop a "set". Use silicone spray where the door slides over the seal along the top, front so it doesn't tear.

I have also been using the McMaster seals for several years and have recommended them to many owners. They are an absolutely breeze to install with the peel-and-stick, adhere very well, and helped seal my early doors from wind noise better than any others I've tried.

Is 20 ft. really enough for both sides front and rear of doors? My quick measurement is a little more then that. There next size is 50 foot but that also adds another $10 to shipping.

Pretty sure I bought 40 ft to have extras in case I messed up cutting. I also used a length to attach to the bottom of the rear window to make that look a little bit more finished as well.

Yes 20 was enough. I did purchase 2 20 ft. since I removed the roof after seals installed and so I have extra for future replacement.

Hey Bitsyncmaster. If it?s not too late please install the outer door seals on your DeLorean with Contact Rubber Cement. Do not use the superior adhesive called, 3M Black Super Weatherstrip And Gasket Adhesive 08581. I glued on the outer door seals with the 3M Super Weatherstrip product and many years later I?m having to very forcefully scrape off all of the rubber as it tears into little pieces. My old rubber seals are showing signs of splitting open and cracking and that?s the reason I?m going to replace them. And this time I?m using Contact Rubber Cement.

I have not installed the drivers side yet. It's funny the drivers side is not making any wind noise ever. Not sure if an air pressure (or vacuum) on one side can get to the other side and trick you into the other side being the problem. I have not had a windy day to do more road testing.

The McMaster seals are superior vs. installing with adhesive. Way less mess and labor.

Bitsyncmaster park the DeLorean in an enclosed garage where you can turn off every light and make it completely dark.
Have an assistant sit in the passenger seat holding a very bright flashlight. Close the passenger side door and have the assistant shine the flashlight at the rubber door seals.
From the exterior look for any light leaking past the inner and outer door seals.
Let us know how it goes with the light leakage test.
Thanks.

I must say using these seals for the outer door seals is the way to go. I bought 50 feet (it came on a large spool). Pulled the passenger side rear seal off. The seals were falling off in a few places. I guess I should have wiped the seal down with acetone because the glue did not stick to the seal. It stuck very good to the stainless. Anyway after a lot of scrapping the glue off, I installed that rear seal in about a half hour. It does have a wider bulb and the door still closes as easy as before. I like how I can remove a foot or two of the glue backing tape and install in sections.

Glad you like it. No way I would use another product currently available without built in adhesive.

I installed all the outer door door seal on the passenger door. It's pretty windy today and my test drive did not have any wind noise. So pretty sure the problem is fixed. The wind may not be hitting the side of the car as I drive.

That larger seal did just close the large gap at the lower front of the door. My drivers door gap is a little larger on the front lower section but it never had the wind noise.
