The other day I was driving and both my belts snapped. When I looked into it further it appears that the water pump pulley slid outward toward the bumper and the belts began to rub and snapped. I tried to wobble the pulley and it would not move. However I can slide the pulley in and out. The pump does not leak. I have never replaced a water pump nor pulley on a Delorean. I see that many places just sell the press on or bolt on pulley but I would imagine I would need to remove the water pump to press it on, correct? If so it just may be worth replacing the entire pump and pulley with a new press on or bolt on. Any thoughts or input would be greatly appreciated.

Upload a picture of the before and after if you can. I'm assuming it's a press-on pulley like the original. I have heard of reused pulleys walking out; they really should not be reused unless you can lock them down with a bolt and spacer. You could try to press it back in with a bolt/spacer, but you might be best off replacing with a new unit.

There are two things that could happen. 1 - if it isn't a great press fit, the pulley can move on the shaft. 2 - the pulley stay solid on the shaft but the shaft can move in and out of the pump itself. Either way, it will need to come out and the entire thing should be replaced.
