DMCH new Escutches

Any one else have a problem installing the new DMCH Escutcheons? I just can't push it back enough. It seems the lift latch on the door needs more room cut into the Escutcheon.

As you can see in the photo of the old on the right and new on the left, the old "cup" area was a little further forward. Also looks like that rear clip is a little further forward but until I can get it pushed back have not found if that is also a problem. My car is a 1981.

Instructions also state the new bracket is optional. So if all my clips work I should not need to install that bracket.

The original is also hard to push back but it can be done.

Most of the tabs on my Passengers Escutcheon were broke so I replaced with one of the new units from DMCH - It was a tighter fight but with a little bit of finessing, it recessed in and clicked down.... Now I dread getting it back out without breaking off the tabs.

I have a Sept '81. The driver escutcheon went in pretty smoothly, and feels very well attached. (only the driver side needed it, though I bought both for later if needed). I did not need the new extra bracket/screw. It did require a little more finagling to get in place and a bit more force to snap in. I share A LITTLE worry about snapping the tab off if I need to get it out again later.

The fit is very individual.
I had to file down the rear latch by several millimeters so it would click into place on Oct 81.
On the other hand, the rest fit perfectly fine.
So no need to install the additional bracket.

Your not really going to see the gap if you cut a little to much off. When I get home, I will cut my new one to at least to what the old one was. Maybe a little more to make removal less hap to breaking it.

I cut the lever "cup" just a little more forward then the original. It did then slide into place but my window switch was not fitting into the opening of the escutcheon. The rear clip latch of the escutcheon was really holding and I feared it snapping but it did flex enough to be removed. I then cut that rear latch just a little so as not to snap it in the future. I needed my window switch to "float" a little more. It was very tight and would not move. I milled a few thousands of each side of the switch. Installed it again and the switch did not clear on the front side. I filed the opening in the escutcheon and now it cleared but the front latches of the escutcheon do not catch. I think my metal in the door needs to be bent up to fix it.

But for now that's how it will stay.
