So Everytime I take a long trip, my clutch gets touchy. Like I have to have every bit of clutch travel. Can?’t have any carpet behind it. Even so, sometimes I can?’t get reverse unless I shut the engine off and shift reverse, then start it in gear. If I do that, the slightest let off pressure and the car moves.
If I bleed the slave, it may help a little, but it just seems theres not enough travel in the pedal. The problem is the linkage on the pedal has play in it. If you back up the pedal stop, you just create more play, not more travel. What it needs is a longer link. Delorean Industry makes an adjustable link which is what it really needs, but they are out of stock right now. I may still get one of those, but I thought I would try my hand at making one. An adjustable one is a bit much for me, but all I need is a longer ?“stock?” one.
First thing I did is remove the current one and measure it. The steel is about .095?” thick. You can?’t go much thicker because there are pins with clips to hold it and there?’s no room. The only steel I had that was thinner than 1/8?” was some square tube. I split the tube into two pieces.

Than I laid it on a piece of 1/4?” steel in the vise.

I think you could just squeeze it cold, but I heated it with a torch and squeezed it with pliers.
Than just drill two holes and your finished. Well, unless you are me. I drilled two holes on the mill very accurately. Of course, I wanted the two holes 1/8?” further apart and I drilled them 1/8?” closer. So I started over. On the next piece I was very careful to add the 1/8?”. But I wasn?’t careful about zeroing the readout on the first hole. Instead, zeroed on the edge and drilled it wrong again. At least the hole was wrong enough to drill another. Here is the stock and my two remakes.

I installed mine and presto, my clutch works great. Now there is zero play in the pedal. Not sure if it will permanently fix it because something seems to change on long trips. I have a new slave and master, so I don?’t know what else is wrong. But for the moment, I?’m happy. I let you guys know if I have trouble in the future.
