I'm going to pull my auto trans pan to replace the filter and redo the shift computer connection seals. This will get it as empty as I can, but I know there is always some unknown amount of fluid that'll still be in there. Remind me how much ATF I should refill with prior to starting the engine and checking the level at the dipstick?

Hi. I would put 3 liters / 3.5 liters max.

One way to figure how much to put back in would be to measure how much you took out. That assumes you had the correct amount before you drained it. Don't forget to also check the final drive level.

That "assume it was right in the first place" is kinda why I was asking.
What's the "by the book" amount, David? It seems a little inconsistent or vague in the places it's mentioned in the manuals.

Thanks. Yea, I think I'll go with 2.75 to 3 liters and then start the car and measure.
