Well since no one lives in the exact same place, I would expect a large price variation... but who do you buy insurance from and what is the price? Do you have agreed value insurance / collector car?
I am having a hard time finding fairly priced insurance. I have my primary policy through progressive, and I like them, however they do not offer collector car insurance.
I am also having a problem because I am a "youthful driver" in the eyes of hagerdy, so they want to charge me a 3X the price up-charge cause I am under 30. Bullshit. Grundy denied me because I didn't have my primary policy through them, which I am not doing.
At current, I have my regular old "minimum coverage" insurance, which likely costs me as much as a full collector "agreed value" policy probably costs some folks here...

Get quotes from at least several of the companies that offer collector car insurance. Some of the big ones are:
Grundy
Taylor
Hagerty
Classic Collectors
Heacock
American Collector's Insurance
Condon & Skelly
Not all are available in every State and each has it's own rules and restrictions. Depending on where you live, your age, your driving record, and how much you value the car and how you intend to use it you can get insurance as low as $300 a year. If you do not have "Agreed Value" on your policy they can book it out as a total for a LOT less than you will like so make sure you understand what you are buying. The price of the premium is no guarantee you have all of the coverage you think. If you are young it may make sense to have the car in your parent's name if possible.

If your car is not appraised, I'd recommend getting some kind of collector plates. This is a great alternative if the car is not your daily driver.
In Canada, to get collector plates the car needs "to be in exceedingly good condition (including no dents, scratches, chips in the paint and/or rust), maintained or restored to a condition considred to be of collectible value, and the vehicle must remain in the same condition as represented in your original application for collector plates."
This pretty much helps out if your ever in an accident, since they've already agreed the car is an outstanding example of the marque.
It's also dirt cheap.

I've got my DeLorean insured as an "occasional driver" with Nationwide. I pay around $75/mo. for full coverage. I actually duplicated the policy I have on my Audi A4, except I reduced the use from daily driver to occasional use, removed "loss of use" coverage (since I have the Audi), and once again declined roadside assistance since I have AAA.

Thats interesting. I am with Safeco which is owned by Liberty Mutual. I pay about $1,700 a year for regular insurance. I have $20k of coverage, full glass coverage, $100 deductible on comprehensive and $1,000 deductible for collision.
