DMC3165

Hey everyone. Just wanted to say hi to the community at large. I haven't really had the time to be on here much lately because quite a lot has changed for me recently. So I just thought I'd give a shout and a quick update about me and 3165.
I lost my job on 9/30 the same day my wife was having surgery for her cancer (nice of my employer right?) Thankfully all went well and I'm happy to say she is cancer free. Unfortunately after this the prospect of selling 3165 became a real possibility. Since mid June it was my only car and I wasn't really in a position to buy another car. Fortunately for me my Grandfather (at age 82) is a partner in a trucking company out in New Jersey. He offered me a job as a foreman. This is only temporary we hope because for the last nine months i've been waiting for a position with Shell/Royal Dutch Petroleum as a facilities operator.
The only downside to working in New Jersey is it's 75 miles away from me one way. I was putting 150 miles a day on the D, almost 3500 miles in one month! More miles then that car's seen in years. She was taking it like a champ. But the roads around Long Island and NYC aren't the greatest and it would only be a matter of time before they beat her to a pulp.
But Lady luck shined on us again and I beat out 47 other candidates for the position at Shell. While I won't start until the first of the year one of the conditions to working for them is that you have reliable transportation to get to and from the job. While i don't think they would've cared if i drove a DeLorean or not, My grandfather decided this was the perfect time to help me get into a new car and he did. With his help I now have a 2012 Nissan Altima that I can't thank him enough for. He didn't have to do that but no one including him wanted me to sell my DeLorean and no one wanted me to destroy it by using it everyday.
So once again I got lucky. I just finished prepping my D today for winter storage and I look forward to hanging on to it for years to come (I hope). But for the meantime once again I can have my cake and eat it too. Like i always say you never know what's going to happen next
;)
