Hey, I know that you can buy the blending pads for our cars from DMCH, but I am assuming that these are most likely a regular product that I can buy elsewhere for a fraction of the price...anyone happen to know what type of pad these are? Thanks!
I've bought them at Lowes. They are the grey pads they call medium/fine. They are 7446 I believe from 3M.

I picked up a box from Amazon.com about 6 years ago. I've since given away some of the pads to other local owners as a box of 10 6x9 pads is enough to go over the whole car numerous times!

Where did you find them at Lowes? They looked at me like I had six heads when I tried to describe what I was looking for. I scoured (ha!) the whole abrasives shelf looking and found nothing. Eventually got mine at a local metal shop, they had cases and cases of them.

You can also go to a janitorial supply and get the large round pads they use to strip polish from floors with those big floor polishers. You can cut it up into several blending pads. It is very rough, just the right texture for graining. They look black and are a 3M product.

+1. we have a Kitchen supply store near here that typically carries boxes of the large pads (Gray, Green and Red). If they dont they can usually get them in stock within a week.

They are in the paint section, were you find the sandpaper.

This is what I found when doing some research a while back. I did not find them at any local stores but I did order them online.

Lol, not at my store. I searched high and low and was shocked and appalled at how small their abrasives section was. For such a huge store to carry only 1 brand of sandpaper with only 4 or 5 grits available... I was surprised. Also checked at my local Home Depot, Osh, Ace, True Value.... no luck. The machine shop though... cases and cases and cases of them for their own use. I pulled up in the D on an unrelated matter and they were more than happy to share a couple pads with me :)
