This will be my first attempt in creating a poll. While digging through the stack of papers that came with my DeLorean when I bought it, I discovered that I am most likely the fourth owner of 02087. It has spent some time in FL, WI, MS, and now UT.

How many people have owned your DeLorean?

I am the 4th owner of #5000, it was sold new in North Carolina, and has always been a NC car. I purchased it directly from the 3rd owner. I was able to contact the 2nd owner of the car and talked to her shortly after purchasing it. I have the name of the 1st owner, but was never able to track him down.

I am the 2nd owner of #16128, I purchased it directly from the original owner in Ohio. She bought it directly from Consolidated, and was one of the last 5 cars they sold. Ironically, her initials spell DMC.

Edit: I can only vote once, so I voted 2nd. If you can expand voting options for a single user, I will vote again.

I didn't take into account multiple owners, such as yourself. I can't figure out how to edit the poll after it has gone live. Let me know if you know the secret. Thanks.

Beats me but from what I can tell I'm the first owner to actually take care of the silly little car.

I believe I was the 5th owner of #5252. There was a surprising amount of paperwork and receipts kept with the car dating back to the first owner (who by far owned the car the longest). It was bought new in San Francisco and lived the majority of it's life on Castro Street. It was sold in the later '90s and migrated east to the Carolinas, where it still resides.

#10115 wasn't nearly as well documented... but the limited info I had showed the car changed hands every 2-3 years until it's untimely demise in '03.

Yep, that would be correct. I remember the story quite well from R. Starling. The first owner you speak of was a doctor (name?) and he just mainly stored it with many other cars in his collection. Then the student (I don't recall his name either) from University of Tennessee purchased it and sent it to DMC Cali (at that time DMC GG) where it was updated so he could drive it back and forth from TN to CA. He wanted a Pantera, so he sold it to R. Starling, then sold to BT, then sold it to you, then you sold it to PM. Damn shame I know so much about that car's history. Another interesting side note. After the student got his Pantera he called RS to see if he could purchase the DMC back from him b/c the Pantera was a bigger money pit that the DeLorean! The answer was obviously no.

I'm Red's third owner but only living owner. It's either a good thing that the previous owners kept Red until they died or a very, very bad thing.

Is there an answer for "I have no idea and no maintenance history"?

Pat reminds me often that any time I want the car back, it's mine. So who knows... maybe I'll be the 5th & 7th owner of #5252.

I bought 16647 new in July '83. Bought 4915 in July '89 becoming it's third owner. Still have both. Have not driven 16647 since I bought 4915 22 years ago.

I hope I voted in the right category. I voted in the Original Owner one because I'm the second owner. It that what you meant? Or was that category intended for original owners?

I got mine from the original owners son, as he had recently died. Apparently the car was not driven on the road since 1991, and this was verified by it's PA inspection stickers. Before it was stored in 91 (indoors) that whole time, it did about 10,000 miles.

I bought it, it's back on the road with all the "DeLorean issues fixed. It's been a south-east PA car it's whole life, and still is.

Hilarious!

I'm not sure why polls are such a struggle sometimes. I had a poll on .com that was, "Do your doors open and close perfectly?" Yes/No. People were posting they didn't vote in the poll because there was no "other" option. Wow...

I wasn't trying to be difficult. But it's a valid point. I ran into the same problem when I started a poll. Initially I thought it would be simple, but the more times I rewrote it in an effort to close the gaps and achieve accurate numbers the more problems I discovered in the wording.

This is a pretty well constructed poll, but can you see ambiguity of the first choice? It could mean that the voter is the original owner, or that the owner before you was the original owner.

I think I'm Number 4, My car was sold in NJ to a bank, then sold to Ken, the Bill won it, then I bought it.

Why not? How did you store it, was it prepped for long term storage?

The original owner bought it new and had it for 27 yrs.

The guy I bought it from owned it for appox. 2 yrs.

I'll have owned it for 1 this Dec.

7075's first owner was a guy in NY, who moved to Florida. Then he went back to NY, sold it to somebody, who stored it for 7 years. After that a Hot Rod builder bought it, fixed up for a bit, then I bought it with the help of a company who owned it for a few months.
So I think I am the 5th owner.
