I just had my car worked on and the doors adjusted. Now the door warning light in the dash comes on and off even though the doors are closed completely. Does anyone know why that might be happening? I know the double plungers on the drivers side, one is for the lights and the other i thought was for the buzzer. Is there another door sensor that I need to check?

Do you have rubber tips of the end of the plungers? Sometimes if the tips are gone the plungers don't go in far enough. On my car, the door buzzer plunger's tip was missing so whenever I made a right turn the buzzer would go off until I straightened out!

i wasn't sure if the door plungers activated that light. i will check it tomorrow when I am installing the foot well lights. I was messing around with them trying to tap into the plungers for the lights. Possible that I wiggled something loose.

You can close the door and get down under the dash with a flashlight and see how close the switch contacts are. But the dash light tells you one door switch is not open. It could be either door. Mine even needed a shim (used a small nut) under the switch cap.

I found that a piece of self adhesive foam type weather stripping about 1/4-1/2 inch thick cut to about an inch and a half in length then attached to the door does a perfect job of extinguishing the lights

I had the same exact problem. What would happen is that sitting in the car in the garage, everything would be fine. After driving about a mile or two down the road, the door ajar light and interior light would go on. Pulling on the door would extinguish the light for a while. From what I could tell the switch was working fine, just not hitting the door jam correctly. This is what I did:

1.) Take a piece of chalk and mark the two door plungers

2.) Close the door and check to see where the plungers are actually hitting. More likely than not, not even hitting the strike plate.

3.) Install the shim of your choice on those marks. I used a little dab of hot glue. Door lights should now stay off with the doors closed!

On my car, the top plunger is for the "tortured goose" alarm for when you have the key in the ignition and the door open. The previous owner disconnected this for some reason. Personally, I love that sound! If I could make it a ringtone I would!

The bottom plunger is for the door lights, interior lights, and door ajar light.

I have it hooked up backwards then, i have the door lights on the top plunger. Personally i disocnnected the buzzer at the buzzer itself.

i thought i fixed the problem by adjusting the plungers, but now every so often especially when i hit a bump it sets the sensor off and at night while driving it is like fast pulses of blue light in my foot wells when i go over bumps. Surprised i haven't had a seizure with all the flashing going on in the foot wells.
