I am working on my break lights and it is weird the wireing, I had two different wires attatched to the switch under the dash by the acellerator peddal. So I switched them back to the origional green wires. I also replaced all the bulbs and one left over new circuit board. The lights come on slowly unlike a new car when you depress the break they light right up. Mine slowly come up to their brightness. Is that a normal thing with our cars?

The brake lights should light quickly like all cars. The switch just turns the +12 volts on or off at the brake lights. You may have a missing ground wire on the lights. Do all four lights do the same thing?

yes all the lights do it even the center smaller light.

Are you saying that with all lights turned off and you hit the brakes, there are 6 bulbs that come on? Or that when you turn on the tail lights they come on slow too? Or..?

okay with all the lights off and no key in the ignition, i depress the break pedal, and the lights dont come up to full brightness right away, they slowly get brighter. and it is all of the lights, when I turn on the parking lights the smaller bulb in the center gets brighter slowly, as well as all the other lights when i depress the break.

Sounds like you have an almost dead battery. What is your battery voltage with your lights on and engine off.

As if you had it connected to a dimmer switch, right?

yes, as if to a dimmer switch, and the battery is brand new. they light up but they dont go full intensity when i hit the breaks.

What was happening before you rewired the switch, replaced all the bulbs, and changed out the circuit board?

Are you sure you got the connector on properly, and it's not misaligned or backwards?

PS: The word you're looking for is "brakes", not "breaks". You don't want breaks in your brakes…. :)

thanks for the tip. and yes there is only one way to put the connector on them. I just need to see another car and make sure it just isnt me. I am more concerned because I am planning on smoking out my tail lenses and dont want to not have them light up at night.

Okay here is something weird. The brake lights work now, But they are bla bla bla with the intensity of the light. I just realized that when i have my turn signal on, it flashes normally then if i depress the break pedal the turn signals flash much faster. I think it might be a short somewhere but i have no idea where it might be.
