Hi all,

Has anyone tried to wet-sand their front bumper. Primarily the black part to get out scuffing or scratches.

Starting at 600 grit and working up to 1000 to 1600 etc. I have never done it. I hear it will make it look new again. Anyone have any experience with this?

You are sanding bare plastic, so it may want to "fuzz up" on you. I have never tried this but I would bet it's full of complications.

If it's really chalked out, and you have nothing to loose, I would probably start with 800 or 1000 grit and go up from there, finishing with buffer/tan compound foam pad and some good plastic polish.

That's what I've done successfully. It works well, go slow and stick with very fine paper as Michael noted. I've gone as high as 1600-grit. The black part of the bumper is not paint, it's the actual urethane.

If someone has painted the bumper, this won't work unless you take the paint off!
