I realize that part of this forum exists to help out people with problems with their cars. But we need to give the good message out. So, if you (like me) are currently not having engine problems, electrical gremlins, or cosmetic issues with your DeLorean, please let me know, and give this site a positive boost?

Only thing I've done in the last few months was change the oil and wash it! Last fuel system issue was 5 years ago when I replaced a PPR O-ring. The one and only time I towed it was about 7 years ago when the clutch slave cylinder went out. Preventative maintenance goes a long way! :wrenchin:

Nothing wrong here either. Full EFI & spark control, starts well under all situations, electrics all behaving, tranny good, wheels, tires, brakes, etc..

"Oh merciful god of all things mechanical, please don't interpret my hard work and resulting delight to be anything other than tribute to your greatness. Have mercy on my soul and my cars and please find some undeserving Lamborghini douche to take your anger out on (or a few more Ferraris on Japanese highways). Amen."

Oh oh, that was a religious post..... I'll get removed.:flamed:

Nothing wrong here either. Room for improvements, sure.. but everything looks and works great right now :)

Drove it to work today and never had a more pleasant drive.

The D is the most reliable car I have at the moment. I took Red out for a few hours on saturday in Christmas time stop and go traffic with zero problems. The Monte's trunk lock cylinder froze up yesterday and has an odd noise coming from the front suspension. The Mustang's entire gauge cluster is fried (which was my fault).

There is always room for improvements, but as it stands, I can pop the key in, fire it up and go! :meatballs:

Never had any serious problems at all. But I keep the D up to date.

I put the car in winter storage a month ago, and have no problems to solve either. I did make a list of things to do, but they are more of a cosmetic side.
(My rear antennae leans forward, and I want to better position my rear facia) further ... nothing!!

Good idea Rob, this thread.

I took it out for a drive last week and everything went well. No air conditioning, but I don't need it this time of year and it doesn't stop me from driving it.

Nothing has broken, or fallen off 2743, since May.

There is not a piece of wood large enough to beat on,much less knock on for me to even think to myself such a though much less, gulp, say it out loud.

But what the heck...... Its been really good lately. Ive got a pass wind that will not go all the way up. Tip- DO NOT slam your doors with the windows down or partially down.
Thats about all. Everything else are things I want done. New brakes, suspension looked at. Engine tuned. Pull the plugs and stare at em. Oh yeah, about 50 more horses would be nice.

New exhaust......

I must say it is heart warming to see all these replies. As a topic starter, I used to have my share of problems. Haven't had anything serious for a couple of years now. Over time, i've grown to see my DeLorean as a reliable vehicle, seriously

Thanks everybody!

Took me 3 years and a small fortune to say that.

The car is a electrical nightmare along with the Kjet. Once I had the fuel issues under control I have been tinkering with the electrical ever since. "Did you clean your grounds" is now in my dna. With those two at bay its really just like most other older cars.
Well with the exception that it seems that its was designed to frustrate even the most dedicated. I just spent 2 hours doing a 20 minutes ground wire swap. So now I have graduated from cleaning my grounds to making new ones.

No problems with 7041 except that I don't drive it enough. Everything is working fine.

One night this summer I was cruising along likely doing about 55-60 mph as I normally tend to do, and out of nowhere, comes a big dog on the road. I literally stood on the brakes and what did my car do? Stopped very quickly, in a straight line, with no shaking or screeching. I might have even done this with one hand, cause I'm pretty sure I had my coffee cup in the other. My car behaved beautifully and the dog lived to play another day. All is well with 3937!

I've owned my DeLorean since June of 1982 and over the years I've driven it over most of the U.S. and half of Canada. Most of that touring has been with other DeLoreans and we've always made the round trip without any major problems. I now have a bit over 100,000 miles and would trust the car to drive anywhere. I've probably been a little over the top in maintaining the car, replacing some things before they were needed, and I performed the various upgrades early on. Certainly it's not a car that can be driven and ignored but with proper maintainance it's a reliable and fun touring car.

3500 miles since May, and nothing wrong, started everytime, purrs like a kitten.

On winter I mostly do upgrades or replace things that I feel need to be since they are 30 YO. Mostly preventive maintenance!

This winter will be: Installing the Kickers speakers front and rear. Replacing the radiotor fans with Hervey's one. and maybe the clutch Slave master since I did the master last year. Other than that cleaning snad blasting and powder coating some parts to keep it nice !

I honestly believe 01955 is in an excellent condition compared to most cars (not counting collectable ones) of the same period. Everything works and functions as it should be. Some minor hiccups, but can start and run without having to worry about anything. :)

My Monte proved her unreliability today when in cold weather she overheated. Red had to pick up her slack so I could go buy some parts. So the jinx hit my daily driver and not the Delorean.
