The only thing that bothers me is that it mentions that the body tubs can be applied to the original cars. Wouldn't this not be legal?

To me, the only thing that enables DMCH to not have to issue new vin plates is the re-using of the underbodies in which the Vin plate is stamped to. Something needs to remain original to the car in order for it to stay as an 198- DeLorean.

A group of us were having this discussion as to at what point does it not become an original car. (The topic of other classic cars were brought up, such as FORD now offering complete new metal body shells).

To me, the tub was the one thing that kept the car what it was. But now if a user replaces the tub (moving vin plate), the frame, and other components, what is left on the car to designate it as a 198- DeLorean?

While speaking to James Espey awhile ago, he mentioned that the EV cars with the new underbodies would have to be sold as 2011 DeLorean Kit car since the underbodies will not be undergoing crash test ratings.

So my question is this, will the underbodies be sold as the article suggests, or are they ONLY for the EV's?
