Hi all,

Starting to put the engine together!

I wanted to know when putting all the new gaskets and o-rings, do you guys recommend I put anything else on them, one of those gasket sealants or something??

Example, putting gaskets on valve covers and timing chain cover, I just put the gaskets that it, or you guys recommend I put something extra??

Water pump gasket, I've seen auto store sell something that you can put around the gasket for extra hold?

Lock-tite for the Y-pipe??

Tell me what you guys recommend, do's and don'ts!!

Thank you!!

No locktite but I almost always use a sealer on gaskets. I use the old school Permatex 2. Even on an O-ring seal, I like to use it. You would not like to pull it out later when you get a leak.

On the Y pipe you will want to use o rings to seal the pipe to the block. It is also recommended to replace the hardware and put anti seize on the shanks of the bolts to prevent breaking in the future.

I now suggest to all owners to pull your intake manifold once a year and clean out the valley and check all hose connections. Blocks are rotting out and the supply of good units is going fast. Ask our customer base or stop by and see it for yourself. We are replacing a minimum of five blocks a month due to rot at this point.

Sooner then later everyone will be stuck with a 3.0 set up simply due to the poor casting points on a b28f failing in the valley and other prone areas in the water jackets.
