The auction was yesterday... Desi's part III car shown above sold for $440,000 plus buyers fees.

Grand total to the buyer was $541,200. Desi probably gor close to 400k after paying consignment fees.

Makes you want to start your own auction company doesn't it?

It has a vin, I saw it when it was on SyFy and noted it was within 100 or so vins from mine. I forget what it was though.

You are right, it is actually 4689. I know because my Dad and I bought it! It is an October 1981 car, just like the others from the trilogy (and our two other cars, 5556 and 5757). We also got Martys 1955 jacket, Docs shirt from all three movies, Martys cowboy suit (he wore it while driving the car), three of the four crew jackets and a few other goodies. We will be adding the website created by the restorer, Desi Dos Santos (www.bttf3delorean.com) to our website for our part 1/2 car, www.88mphtimemachine.com . We plan on using the car for charitable purposes to benefit the Michael J. Fox Parkinsons Research Foundation, TeamFox. We are very excited to get it home!

Thanks, yes we are very lucky! Will definitely keep everyone posted. We plan on doing some updating to a few of the props as the "screen accuracy" has improved since the car was restored, nothing major though. The interior is highly original, the only items replaced were the flux capacitor and the time circuits.....everything else "time machine" wise is original. Of course, the leather, headliner etc has been restored. It has a full roll cage and a five point harness, pretty cool!

I'd be lying if I said I wasn't massively jealous. Congrats on the purchase, and I hope we get to see many of the adventures you have with the car. Extremely exciting!

That is awesome!! Congrats!! And as long as you picked up the Sports Almanac in another auction, you'll not have to worry about the purchase price!! Glad to see the car has gone to someone with some DMCTalk ties and great intentions with the Team Fox fundraising :) Looking forward to hearing about many cool stories!

Thanks! Too bad the last entries into the Sports Almanac are from 2000, we really could have made out just like Biff did! We will definitely keep everyone posted here and at our website for the cars, thanks!
