S/S Clutch line, mounting Need Help!!

Hi all,

I am working on putting on the new Slave cylinder, master cylinder, and S/S line, bought form John Hervey.

How is the S/S line held underneath?? As of now it has an old S/S line. At one section it is in between the fiberglass body and metal frame. I tried pulling it out, but will not come off, the cap is way to thing. I am also wondering when I do get it out, where/how do I put the new S/S line???

I also checked out the DMCH website, it shows that 2 clips go somewhere under. http://store.delorean.com/c-384-4-4-1-clutch-hydraulics.aspx #12, 13.

Any ideas, tips, info!!!

I attached mine via stainless zip ties to the frame. It's tucked up between the fiberglass and steel wherever possible so it is out of the way of road debris. I cut up some thin rubber pads to wrap between the ties and the line. I didn't expect anything to slice through the line but better safe than sorry.

Zip ties around the A/C hose. That's how the original was held in place.

ONe other thing, now I am stuck on removing the masster cylinder. All bolts removed, but seems as if there is no space to pull it out. Can't even remove the old clutch line from it.

I think I had to loosen my brake booster to get the master cylinder out. Or maybe it was the other way around. I might have had to loosen the brake master cylinder to get my booster out. I can't remember.

I actualy got it off. Since it was the old line, I just cut it off, cause I didn;t have the right tool to take it off. It came right off. The clutch line was keeping it from coming off.

Um, if you don't have the right tool to take it off, how are you planning on putting the new one on? It's just a wrench (the size I cannot remember offhand.....I only did one for another owner on here the last week of August!)

What I DO recall, however, was working from both above and below. Sometimes reaching in through the brake cover, other times working through the fuel filler neck/clutch reservoir access panel...and even once or twice from through the driver front wheel well. Whatever allowed me the access and leverage I needed at the time.

I didn't have the correct wrench to take the old line. For the new line I do have the correct wrench, I think the old one required a 11mm, and new one a 10mm. Could be mistaken, but something like that.

Did mine in Aug with my good and gracious friend; Cory. It wasn’t rocket science but having someone with you who has done it before, as Cory had, is very reassuring! We used plastic zip ties to tidy up the new stainless line over the edge of the frame away from possible road debris. You cannot even see it now. As Cory said earlier, the master cylinder came off with no difficulty at all. The hardest part of the whole job was getting the new slave into position. The old one came out easy enough, but getting the new one in was a bit of a challenge.
