"little" rust - except this the frame is OK, but it will be sanded repainted all the way.

Aah, ok, thanks. I kept wanting to say Impala but it was hard to tell without the fenders and that tarp on the roof.

is that a stainless vehicle in front of the red Chevelle, or is it just bare metal?

Slightly off topic but do all our cars have the vin# behind the passanger side fender? I heard this was how Grady was able to identify #530 when he found it.

Very cool pics though. Keep us posted!!

Great job Bopat. Glad to get an update.

Is that also an ash framed Morgan and a cream Jensen Interceptor in pic 4? What a varied collection

is that a stainless vehicle in front of the red Chevelle, or is it just bare metal?

+1.

Stainless trailer as well?

!

I think only the "early" ones, but what the vin cutoff was I don't know. Possibly when they ran out of stickers. I recall seeing a '25' on Pilot 25 too.

1948 Oldsmobile Dynamic Coupe - before painting. It took part on a classic car show like this, had big success :)

I was surprised when I saw it also, I have no idea about the rest.

That trailer is a brand new one, made by hand and is for sale.
If anybody is interested I can provide details.

This car shop is the best one around, they are building excellent cars, renovating from scratch.
Also they are the ones who can fix dents in stainless steel, they renovated mine completely.

There is only 2x a year when I can do this in my city...

These are custom made seat covers. The seats were really destroyed, so we completely refurbished them.
I don't like the original seats, those wrinkles or what, so I ordered these ones. I like these more than original ones.

Exactly, local guy did it to me, as well as all other interior leather stuff.

Anyway this car will be used only in the summer, on meetings, parties etc. It will not be an everyday driving car ...

Rear fascia was in a very bad shape, so I had to buy another one (used one) but the front one was good enough for use.
We set up the fascia to fit perfectly.

Hi,

We're the guys doing this restoration. Thank you for all your positive comments. We are trying to do a top quality job, one of the hints for this are the custom made reinforcement panels in the front fascia and on the grille mesh. We're used to full sheet metal vehicles where nice panel gaps are essential, so that's what we're trying to shoot for with the Delorean, as well. This particular car has a few signs of early production like the cutouts on the frame under the gear selector and factory trimming of rear panel braces.

However, I have a question, maybe some of you can help us in this. We're cleaning up the transmission and noticed that there was an amount (about 0.2 liter) of auto trans fluid in the final drive unit. Also, not much, but some tiny metal particles on the magnetic fluid plug. As the car has low miles (~17k), up until now we only wanted to replace a few seals and gaskets, but I'm getting a bit worried about this issue. It'd be a lot easier to take the transmission apart now and check for problems than to find it's shot when it's already mounted in the vehicle. It may also be worth noting that the car has sat for 11 years.

If you have experienced something like this before, or have ideas about it, please let me know.

Thanks,

Gabor

Hi guys

Long time I didn't write anything... it was a long 2 years.
But now I can see the end of the tunnel, at least I hope :)
24491
Last autumn the car was ready to go. At least I thought so.
The car was taken to another service, for fixing the Kjet injector.
That was set up and fixed, but the engine had problems.
Oil and water was disspearing.
So the car went back and the engine disassembled again.
24492

The interior is 99% ready.
24493

What is interesting, after we cleaned the gas tank, we thought that it will ok.
But look what came down from the walls after we put gas inside
24494

The engine - before it was open again...

Myself and a friend have been restoring a beetle now for the past 2 years.

I never expected it to take this long, but lots of unexpected issues appeared as they always do with old cars.

Some things have to be done right and that takes time - especially when its just a hobby.

All I can is WOW!! You started with a real mess and have totally turned it around!! Even though you are frustrated, you should be very pleased with your efforts, you have saved your car from oblivion. Not many people have the patience and persistence you do. My hat goes off to you, awesome what you are doing :thumbup2:

It was a time, when I was frustrated, that's true. But now is better :)

|Nice feeling. You can tell the one in front of you ( with the driver's door alignment issue or wasn't shut properly) has an auto tranie!
