How much time should it take for a decent mechanic to install Hervey's twin muffler full exhaust system (headers to tips)? Labor only.

Hard to answer accurately. A lot has to do with how many studs break.

That's sort of what I've heard. But ballpark, maybe 2 hours?

If no studs break, a few hours.
I sprayed all the nuts with PB Blaster several times over a few days before starting.
Everything came off pretty easy. I removed the whole system one day, installed one header, the muffler and brackets another, and I'll finish it up next weekend. I've really been taking my time though- I'm in no hurry and have a lot of other things I need to prioritize right now instead of dedicating half a day to this.

Holy sh**.

That is the standard book time to carefully remove a stock unit and install an upgrade exhaust system.

Typically a good shop that does a lot of exhaust work won't waste time with PB Blaster or any other spray on exhaust fasteners. They will just go right for an acetylene torch. Works every time and although you won't break any studs you may strip threads. Does make the job go a lot faster. The other thing has to do with if they ever did this job before. The second one always takes 1/2 the time of the first one. I would say 8 hours is a lot but 4 hours is probably not enough. This assumes they are working with a lift and have all the parts and tools they need at hand. This also assumes that they don't get sidetracked and find a bunch of other stuff to do too. Again, what will consume a lot of unestimateable time is repairing/replacing broken or stripped fasteners.

Well, what I would probably do is spray some penetrating oil on the studs a few times for a week before having the job done. I use a mechanic that works on a lot of new and old exotics and obscure European cars, so he should be able to handle a DeLorean. We'll see how it goes.

I think it would take less than an hour to remove my Spec .01 exhaust and replace it with Hervey's setup.

This is one of my to-do's. So far, #10715 has new studs and the stainless steel exhaust gaskets. No actual header or muffler/pipes replacement yet. Need to save my cash! I would love a Stage I.

I removed most of my stock exhaust today. Pretty sucktastic job, so I really don't think that the vendors are out of line at all asking what they ask.

Finished installing the DPI exhaust yesterday, but, one thing prevents me from calling the job complete....

I disconnected the starter wires get better access to the manifold nuts, and I don't remember which wires went on which posts. Don't want to fry anything, and everything I've read discussing starter removal/installation just says "disconnect wires" and "connect wires"

Can someone help me out here? I feel like a dummy for even asking this.
