To start id like to say , i have been trying to sell my D for cheap with no takers. So
I have come up with a great idea. I am going to drive from where i live Whitehorse
Yukon Canada. ( Near Alaska) To Key West Florida. The hard way... straight down from here to Los angeles CA. then turn left and head east. I plan to stop at many places for pics along the way and when i get to key west the car will be sold to the High Bidder. (within reason ) Right now it is only -15 here. the roads are completely ice/snow covered and will be for the first 2400 kilometers or so, i have been driving the car regularly and it handles well heats well and performs well in the very cold so asside from crash or breakdown i should be good. :rock_on:

Please add comments and also places you think i should stop at along the way.

Trip starts in 5 days.

Wow, the road trip to end all road trips!

So how many miles do you plan on driving, approx 2800-3k? Approx. how long are you planning the trip to take?

What general route will you follow, and do you plan to run interstate, or secondary highways?

I definately think you should upload videos on youtube for us along the journey, even create a photo journal as this is probably the longest single road trip a Delorean will do...ever.

I have always wanted to drive Route 66, you should be able to see some of it anyway if you are heading to LA then east. I say forget the normal places like Vegas, Grand Canyon, etc. Hit up Roswell, Area 51 and the alien highway. See the out of the way places that time has forgot about.

I think your first stop should be here in Fort st. John. I'm about 1,500 kms away. I bought my D for around what you are asking for yours. I'd love to compare the two if you have the time.

ok i will stop in and see you.. do you want to join in the trip...?
It would be a Double D adventure...... lol

And for those wondering it will be about 5000 kilometers to Los angeles
and about 5000 more kilometers to Key west. So 10000 km or 6200 miles.

I will stop in and meet with any D owners that are willing to visit.

I plan on driving to Vancouver Canada from here then after Seattle WA i will head to the coastal hiway south to LA.

Please add your suggestions.

Thank-you

With those distances, you'll need to stop at DMC NW and/or CA and/or Houston and/or FL and get your oil changed! Heck, with this one trip you could visit 4 of the 5 USA DMC locations!

I've always wanted to drive in a giant loop across the whole country in the D. This includes going all the way up the Haul Road to Deadhorse Alaska. I would need to hire a support vehicle to follow me with some spare DeLorean tires/parts on that trip though. That can be a very unforgiving road.

You're one brave motherfucker....... Bring a tool kit.

LoL, seriously though have a blast! I highly recommend checking out the scenery on the pan handle of Idaho, it's great country.

Also, do you plan on logging this trip on DMCTalk? If so it would be nice to have a thread set aside just for you to update and upload pictures. Let me know when you'll be nearing VA I'd love a chance to tag along for part of it!

Hey that sounds like a great trip! May I recommend you have alternate routes in case of inclimate weather though? I know you're in Alaska and used to driving it bad weather, but I'd hate to see you get in a wreck or stuck in a ditch because a Midwest snow storm. I'd ride along the California coast line then cut across to the Grand Canyon, ride some route 66 for a bit. Granted I've never been to CA, but in the movies that road that runs alongside the ocean never has any traffic and always looks so gorgeous (and curvy)! :rollin:

The coast highway is amazing for sure! But the D will be a very tight squeeze on those roads - the the thing they never show you on tv is the people on bikes who you can't see til after you've almost killed them. Take it slow on those sections and you'll be fine!

Take a pass through the Sonoma valley - there are lots of us up here, we could meet you somewhere.

If you do take the trip and decide to go through Colorado and Rocky Mountain Deloreans can take you in and provide a day of rest or wrenching depending on need.
