My doors used to close nice and easily but when opening (even with nice new struts) they would only open around 98% you could push the last 2% by hand. A vendor adjusted the doors by one spline each and then they bounce 2-3 times and noticeably harder work to pull down. I was told that by having the spline turned back again that apart from lots of lube at the hinges there is little that can be done to adjust the door in between.

How about slightly longer struts that have a good brake i.e. the extra length (5mm?) would push the door to the fully open position?

Any other levels of adjustment or suggestions?

Try these. I love them

If one spline made the door bounce, turn the spline back and replace your struts and try that. Your doors should not bounce at all.

Also, depending on the struts you have and the temperature outside, the doors opening distance will be affected as well.

I know someone sells temperature adjusting shocks to counteract that issue.

There is what I call the "half spline" adjustment. You use the torsion bar tools, loosen the anchor bracket bolts, move the bracket the other way against the bolts and then tighten the bolts. It is about equivalent to a 1/2 a spline. Gives you a 1/2 spline adjustment tighter.
