When I got 01955, she use to cut my hands with the gas flap and I called her Christine. My ex disapproved the name, so she was renamed Dee. Still considering switching her back to Christine. ;)

"Dolores". I know, very original right? There really was a little more thought to it than just "the names are similar". As we know Alan Silvestri did the epic score for BTTF (one of my faves) as well as the score for another ground breaking film, "Who Framed Roger Rabit?" Well Eddie's love interest in that film was Dolores the bar tender. My D is kinda my love interest, so I felt the name fit.

I call mine "Stainy" only because my wife hates it...so I only say that when she is listening. All other times I call it "My car"

If my car were a female, which it is not, and if my car had a name, which it does not, it would be Patsy.

As in Patsy "I Fall To Peices" Cline.

Driving across the country for Thanksgiving, two of the calipers tried to fall off and I threw a belt and a rabbit ate my rock sheild at 80mph. That song kept coming on the radio over and over during the trip, as if it were funny or something. :-)

No name yet. My car may have a split personality depending on how it goes. I'll have to make a DMV inquiry once I get back as VIN 891 may be parted out as opposed to given another life.

I've had my car since about October 2007 and with the roller coaster that was that first 2 years or so, I settled on calling the car "Emotion"... ya know, for how it stirred so many emotions in me from the great ones like going for that first drive, to seeing and hearing people's reaction to the car... to the ones which were not so hot like that first year's bill from my mechanic (yuck!).

Nowadays, 3937 is running just about as well as I think it could be for a 30 year old car, so I don't think of it as Emotion anymore. When I refer to it with people it is mostly just called "THE" DeLorean. Cause with a car like ours, it doesn't need much more of an introduction than that :)

Christine after the first three months of ownership. I will consider renaming her to something less ominous when she starts behaving. I expect this will happen sometime after the heat death of the universe.

Also, at times, "Stupid F***ing car", "Baby" (as in "come on, baby, please don't do this... please..), and other, even less kind words.

I'm leaning towards "Elaine" (or DeLaine) if she ever starts cooperating.

We had this tread on the old DMCTalk, it was quite interesting. I call both of mine DeLorean or The Delorean, or refer to them by VIN#, or by the year (either the 81 or the 83). I really should call #16128 Dora, the first owners name whom I purchased the car from. She bought the car brand new for a very good reason, her initials are DMC and her personalized plate when she owned it was "DMC CAR". Kinda cool, huh?

Wow. I love the fact that so many of the minor stars in the 60s and 70s had their own albums. Leonard Nimoy, Jim Neighbors, Lorne Greene....

Since my D was born in May of 81 and whenever I am about to work on it I tell my wife that "I am going to spend some quality time with my 30 year old today" (my D was in her 20s when I bought it so it sounded even cooler back then). My wife who is a great jokster told some of her friends the same. Most of them got it right away though since I am known for "the guy with the Delorean" wherever I go. Over time she has simply started to refer to it as "your b*itch" - very lovingly I might add.

Music is my mistress. (Actually, that's a lyric by Duke Ellington.)

Back on topic: I find myself calling my DeLorean "Twenty-Six Thirteen" these days more often than "Sparky." "Sparky" seems an odd nickname for a girl, and I am definitely getting the feeling that the vehicle is a diva.

Interesting, your first two numbers (26) is twice your last two (13) and both therefore are multiples of 13.

Good job you aren't superstitious ;)

In a post I made over the weekend on Facebook, I referred to my car as "The Irish Wench". I kinda liked it. Not sure I'll officially call that a name, but definitely a new reference.
