Small louvred vents and armrest caps

Hi folks, just a couple of random questions!

First off, does anyone have any info/pics etc. on how to remove these louvre/vent pieces? I want to get them sprayed, but I can't take the car on the road for the time being to get to the paint shop, so I'll have to bring them on their own.

The next question is about the plastic arm rest caps that DMCH/EU sell. There are two kinds, narrow (W300006) and wide (W300009). I want to order a set but I'm not sure which I need. Here are a couple of pics, the end of the arm rest measures around 6.5"x3.5" at its widest points.
The leather is getting a bit worn so I want to put these on to protect it.

To get the side louver off, you either pry it off from edge toward the back of the car (breaking the studs and/or push-nuts that hold it in place from behind). Then you glue it back on. OR take the quarter panel off the car and snap the push-nuts off from behind.

To get the window vents off, you remove the glass first (cut the glue). The vents are glued to the stainless before the glass is glued to the stainless. It is difficult to remove the vents without damaging them since they are glued in with window urethane just like the glass.

IMO you want to paint them both in-place if at all possible.

You need the narrow covers.

For reference (I asked this same question a while back and got this answer,) DMC has kindly provided this template. Print it, cut out the pieces and hold them up to your armrest extension. Instant identification.

:sad30: Whoa, that's a lot of hassle just to paint a couple of plastic pieces!! I think you're right - I'll be getting them painted where they are! Ah well nothing some masking tape and a bit of patience won't fix.

The narrow ones... excellent. So will I just need a bit of double sided tape, or are they self-adhesive?

Heh I wondered what was up with that!
I vaguely remember seeing that file about 6 months ago, back before I got my car. I wish I had saved it!
Should be okay though anyway... Dave has saved the day!

Yeah, it seems the whole tech section has disappeared. Hope it comes back, there was a lot of good information there....

The caps have double sided tape already on them from DMC. Peel and stick.

FYI ... You'll want to be careful when handling and installing the caps. I guess they're made of fiberglass but they are very brittle and easily broken.
