The interior of Proto 1 looks very high-end '70s euro exotic. Pretty nice. Some of the other pieces in that showroom are pretty nice too.

No problem! I know I'm going to love seeing Proto-1 in person this summer at DCS!

They should just offer a Proto-1-style interior. I'd do it.

Great pics, I have always had a soft spot for the proto 1 car, and the interior. When the shot of the production interior directly followed proto1 interior I immediately thought the production looked better, but you have to judge these cars in the era in which they were conceived. That interior for mid 70's is just perfect, I like the contrast of the brown color against stainless, the way the seats blend into the floorpan, and I love the little carpeted shelf.

+1 on everything you said.
i too am looking forward to seeing this gem in person at DCS... as well as seeing a DeLorean for the first time in 12 years!
on another note, is the gear shift boot pulling up at the corner in this photo?

Those are really neat photos. Thanks for sharing them with us, including those that are still chasing the dream. :D

Honestly, so would I. I like the tan interior. Porsche and Audi have a really nice shade they use and I wouldn't mind having it in my D.

The steering column of Proto 1 looks just like the one on my old 1980 Z28.
I wonder if DMC used a GM parts bin steering column for this.
Wonderful pictures :)
Thank you for sharing :thumbup2:

The final production of the Delorean is perfect, would not change anything apart from the head unit.
I know many said that it does not match the exterior, but then, I think the current design is timeless in shape and form.
As for Proto-1, well, that has aged a fair bit! But this is genesis!! :)

I prefer the production interior myself, but Proto-1 is still awesome! It's the grandfather of our Deloreans:devil: Completely different car than the production version. I like the knee bar and Craig deck with the equalizer! Would make a GREAT show car.

I believe they are all plexiglass except the windshield.

Wonderfull pictures! Thank you. It has always been a futur project of mine to redo all the interior when my interior will be in a irreversible state of deterioration. It's not for tomorrow(must be very expensive!) But I like very much the baseball glove color of proto-1.
I did in the past stained the complete interior of my Dodge Stealth ES. I stained it Tan color from PPG product. I had great comments from people knowing that model. But I would never stained the D. I would do a re-upholster instead.

Thats what I thought it looked kinda "plastic". Are there decent shots on the internet comparing the proto with the final incarnation? Side by side, different angles?

Was this the car used in all of the promo material (that shows the prototype) or was a different prototype used?

No, along with the prototypes, production and pre-production cars were used as well. One that comes to mind is a very small tri fold I have that uses the production body and interior, but retains the sliding windows, and looks like different wheels as well.
