$1 per mile on top of the $495???
You're not even going to throw in a radius included in the price? I can't imagine many people willing to pay that kind of money to display a D. But, we all know what happens to a fool and their money...

It cost me 50 cents to put the ad up. I doubt there is anyone dumb enough to pay that price so I put up the "make offer" option as well.

Locally I would much rather show the car for an hourly rate, but lets say I have to travel somewhere like mobile and stay overnight. I would want to get paid for the inconvenience. $495 is a bargain for a 24 hour period considering it only adds up to about $20 and hour.

What if someone actually buys it and you're busy when they need it? School, work, commitment, etc. Just wondering.

Honestly for .50 to put up the ad why not. How long will the ad last?

I've concidered doing this before, but never really pursued it. I always figured that there'd be more demand for a Time Machine replica in the "rent-for-event" field.

The only time 1258s gotten me paid was for that car show I just did. And that was more of a "thank you" check. I'll be interested to see how this plays out. Good luck man, keep us posted!

Steve, what would you charge to ATL?

We're looking for a Delorean (a la Back to the Future) to rent for an evening in early May.

Anyone have one available for rent or know where we can find one? Thanks!

I doubt they would need me since there are several Deloreans in the Atlanta area anyway.

In the event you rented it out and something bad happened, how would your insurance company handle that?

I'll send them the ebay link and let them make an offer then. Atlanta would be a perfect drive to test my steering column bushing.

They responded and seem to be interested. The only problem is they want to drive it 3 miles from the wedding to the reception. Agh!

I guess I'll have to call my insurance company and see if they will cover it. If not, I'm sure I can buy (or have them buy) a seperate policy for the 3 mile drive.

eBay and paypal's fees already add up to about 10%

I'll buy you a burger next time I goto a SEDOC event as long as you are there.

They got back with me and said $500 is the most their budget can afford. I am so tempted to take the offer since I am planning on driving 16510 out to the east coast anyway.

So this would add $500, minus travel expenses, to the car's annual budget then, given how your doing your finances. Someone else causes $100+ damage to the car, you dock it out of your car's own budget. Then by the same token, any monetary gains directly from the car from other people, would go back into the car's budget.

I'll probably do it for $500 or so. the problem is its going to be about 1,000 miles round tirp. At 25 mpg I will need 40 gallons of fuel. 40 gallons of fuel at $3.50/gallon is $140. I'll ask her what she thinks about half a day for $500 including mileage.

The good new is her fiance's daily driver is a stick, so I shouldn't have to worry about him getting confused with the cluth.
