Are these the same oil filters the vendors sell?

No it is a wider body filter. If it's the one I'm thinking of it's painted white right? It does fit and it will work (just barely). When installed it will be right up against the oil pressure sending unit. Actually it might not fit with a stock oil pres sending unit. I'm not sure because I have a TRW unit installed.

I used one of the other BOSCH filters once for about 500 miles when I was reviving 3165. Only because it was the only thing i could find at a local auto parts store. But since then I stick with the vendor units just because they fit better and are relatively cheap.

No it's black and looks identical to me. The only difference I see is that there is writing on it. Maaaaaabbeey a little shorter if anything?

Ok then. It's not the same one. I've heard there are a few different filters out there that are compatible with our engine. I think the only issue is if it will clear the oil pres sending unit or not. But maybe someone else might know better.

I use the Bosch 72150 as my "winter" filter.. it fits fine with plenty of space to spare next to the oil pressure sender. I really only use it for a fresh oil change before winter storage .. then switch back to the Purflux for summer driving. (until my stash of Purflux is gone I guess)

I've been using the Bosch 72150 oil filters for a few years now, I used to be able to pick them up locally at local parts stores. However, they have been discontinued and now the part # is 72150WS. However, I am not sure what the difference is and if they can still be used. Can anyone out there tell me?

This eBay listing might interest some of you.

Not the exact Purflux number but it might work. For $7.50 with free shipping it's worth a gamble.

They'll hit the OPS. Too big in diameter.
