I would like to keep my stock radio but I'd also like to be able to listen to music other than AM/FM radio. I took a look at some schematics for the Craig radio but didn't get too deep into it. The rubber belts on my tape deck have failed but I guess it is possible to use a cassette converter. Too messy, too many wires hanging around.

I'd like something sleek and refined. Maybe connect a separate iPod amplifier to the speakers and hide it between the two seats? That could be connected separately to the speakers so the radio isn't even involved. Thoughts?

Has anyone done anything custom or elegant in this area?

When I took my old Aveo into the stereo shop about a year ago, they told me that their was an adaptor that they could install a wire on the back side of the radio so that I could hook an iPod/iPhone into it and hear it over the sound system.

I think they said it was only $30 installed.
