Hi all, I'm Craig, and i'm about to take delivery of a 1982 DeLorean that I purchased from DMC California in November last year.
I'm having it shipped out to me here in Australia, and I am friends with fellow owners here. My car is due to arrive on March 16.
I've heard great things about this forum and am looking forward to becoming part of the community.
Regards Craig.

If your VIN is what you listed under your profile, then you have an '83 DeLorean, which DD016658 corresponds to. I know there are laws regarding RHD conversions being required in Australia on cars under 30 years of age, so be careful and take heed of this.

Welcome to the forum and congrats!

Your VIN is not too far away from the DCS Raffle car VIN 16559 (which is an 83 model year).

16658, previously owned by the Editor of DeLorean World.

How's that for an obscure fact?

Thanks guys!
Yes, I had that issue about it being either an 82 or 83 D, and thankfully that was sorted. Although it was classified officially as an 83 model, the car was manufactured in August of 1982, so, because of that fact, I am able to register it here as a LHD vehicle, because it is actually 30 years old this year. That was an issue for me last week, but thankfully it's all been sorted.
I received my plates for it earlier this week as well, they read "BTF-82". My car is on the high seas as we speak, and should be here in a few weeks.
When I took the car for a drive around Garden Grove for a test spin, the thing that I found truly remarkable was the fact that the steering wheel was so small! I drive a small Toyota Sera hatchback (which also has gullwing doors!) and I can swear the DeLorean's wheel is even smaller than the Toyota's.
Thank you all for the warm welcome. I'm looking forward very much to getting to know you all.
Your Delorean pal,
Craig.

Mmmmmm Cookies and punch!

Watch out for those cookies. They don't fit well in an Atkins diet (ya know, the low carbs diet)...... GROAN. haha

Welcome Craig! You'll love your car when you get it and the ear to ear grin on your face every time you drive it :)

Thanks Jonathan,
I'm already getting around with a huge grin just thinking about it!
Right now though, it is just a grin my neighbours don't understand...but they will in a few weeks!

Hi Diddly-Ho Brad!!
Yes, you've been telling me of the benefits of joining this group, and while I had seen the forums for a while now, I figured there was not much point in joining until I was a Delorean owner. Seriously, I never thought this would happen! It is weird though, being the owner of a car I can't even see yet, but I'm very excited about the whole prospect!
I just can't wait to join you and the guys in a cruise with my own DMC-12.
I should have everything sorted and registered by May at the latest!

Are you keeping the Sera as a daily driver?

Have you got anyone lined up for compliance?

Congrats on the purchase - I brought in a Mustang a few years ago and the wait was a killer!

Hey Lukas,
Yes, I'll be keeping the Sera for my daily driver, and will be using the DeLorean for the weekends.
The only real things I have to worry about once the car gets here is the headlights and seatbelts.
Apart from those two things, I can pretty much get the car registered on an RWC.
