New composite underbodies

Hello all,

Since I got *ZERO* responses on the DML regarding my question, I thought I would post here to see if anybody knows or has insights. Thanks.

With reading all the articles about the new all-electric DMC, I am curious about one aspect. The articles all mention that a company was hired to lighten the car to offset the addition of the batteries. I believe something in the range of 200lbs weight reduction. My question is, does anybody know if DMC will be offering these new composite underbodies for sale in general or will these be only for use in the EV conversions? It does not sound like any significant modifications were made that would prevent them for use in non-EV vehicles, which is why I ask. I'm personally always looking for improvements, both safety and weight-wise, so if the price was right it might be worth it.

For the answer to that you should just go right to the source. Anyone else answering is just pure speculation. Unless your underbody is damaged and needs to be replaced, replacing it just to save 200 lbs is going to be EXPENSIVE! Besides the cost to purchase it, you have to figure trucking and all of the labor. Plus any other "bits" you are going to replace along the way "just because". Like belts, hoses, bushings, broken bolts, fuel lines, etc.
