New water pump assembly questions

When putting a new water pump together, I need clarification on the following -

- What type of Permatex do you use on both sides of the main gasket?
- What is the torque value for the back bolts?
- Does the thermostat need to be oriented a specific way?
- Is there a torque value for the thermoswitch and thermostat top cap?

I use the permatex #2 (non hardening) for most everything needing a sealer. If I have time, I will use #1 (hardening) on one side and "glue" the gasket to one piece.

The thermostat has go in with the correct end pointing down but there is no direction for installing it at any rotation angle.

If you cant find a torque value, just find a torque value for another part that uses the same size bolt and material. You won't need to over torque it with a a sealer on the gasket.

In regards to the thermostat, the seal goes on it around the circumference, fitting into the groove in the seal. The "big" end goes down towards the water pump. There is no rotation angle. If it doesn't have a tiny hole or a valve, drill one, 1/16 " is good. I do it to aid in bleeding air. I don't think there is a torque value, just make sure you get it tight evenly. You do not have to use gasket sealer but everyone does. If you have a tube of silicone sealer a little smear is all you need.
