I apologize. This isn't DeLorean specific but may still help local owners. I'm posting here instead of the open forum in hopes of getting more technical attention.

I live in Minneapolis. I'm helping a friend rebuild the top end of an '88 Iroc Z Camaro. I'm looking for recommendations for a machine shop to get the heads done.

Also, the exhaust manifolds are, I believe, cast iron and have a good layer of surface rust. People here do very well with refinishing engine parts. Any recommendations on refinishing those to withstand the heat?

I know these aren't DeLorean questions but you guys are who I expect to get good car information from. Thanks.

just do an internet search for local machine shops and read the ratings you find . as for the exhaust manifolds, yes they are cast iron, i would just blast them with a bead blaster or glass bead and that will clean the rust, or you could have your friend buy a set of heat resistant headers. you can buy them cheap especially for the camaro. if that doesnt help, go to www.camaroforums.com , there are a ton of knowledgable people on there that can give great advice (not that there isnt anyone on here).

The CarQuest Auto Parts right on Excelsior and Shady Oak Road in Hopkins has a machine shop I've used for several tasks. One of which was the head rebuild for my DeLorean's engine, before I had them rebuilt again for the port and polish at a racing shop.

Thanks for the input so far, everyone.

Jim, I was really hoping for input from you for a good local place. I know you've done good work and value your opinion. Thanks!
