Hi all. Recently at work I've heard from more then one person that there's a junk D rotting away in a scrap yard somewhere in Bayonne NJ. I don't usually get out that way much but I was curious if any of the DMA crowd or the DeLorean community in general knew anything about this.

I'm always looking for stuff like this. Not for a resto project especially if its to far gone. But wouldn't mind picking it for parts.

I know Bayonne is a big area with more then one junkyard there but I figured I'd take a stab at it here first before I go on a scavanger hunt.

Thanks,

there wasa thread on the old .com forum about a Junkyard D.not sure if its the same one. but from what i remember about that D, it was pretty much picked clean after an article about it was published on the internet

I work and live near there during the week and I can only think of one or two places in Bayonne where there might be a yard left. There's been a lot of redevelopment going on down that way and you're much more likely to stumble across the holding lot for fresh off the boat BMWs than you are a DeLo rotting away in a junkyard.

That said, I did see a New York plated one rolling down the 440 toward Staten Island one night about 18 months ago. That was startling.

Are you sure it isn't Jersey City? There are still a good handful of they-pulls in various sectors of Jersey City.

is this the junkyard DeLorean (http://jalopnik.com/5292516/time-machine-found-in-junkyard-by-hobo-seeking-great-scotch) that you remember? its the one that came to mind for me... however, it appears that it was in South Carolina.

It's possible it could be in Jersy City. I'm going on word of mouth at the moment.

But the good news is about an hour after starting this thread I got a phone call from a family member that just so happens to work in Jersy. They need a hand with something tomorrow over in Linden which is about 20 mins away from Bayonne.

So by chance I'll be starting my scavanger hunt early........Weird how that works out!

Good luck with finding it there. I wouldn't want that car to end up like that one in the picture.

Well no luck today. Unfortunately I was kind of busy helping my grandfather so I really didn't get to look. Maybe next time.

However if anyone else knows anything about it I'm definitely interested so hopefully someone will spot it.

It was over a year ago I first started this thread. Honestly i never had a chance to look and I haven't seen the guy that first told me about this in a while. But if you know the area maybe you might have some luck hunting. Let me know if you find anything!

Man, I remember going down there to pick parts off that car. I still have a bunch of the parts laying around. Man what a hot miserable day that was. And of course the car was like a mile back in the pick a parts place, those effin doors are heavy when you drag them that far!

That was a good 2-3 years ago, i'm sure it's been crushed since then.
