Windscreen trim strips

Just a quick question about the three black trim strips around the top and sides of the windscreen - can they be removed without taking the roof T panel off first?

I want to put my T panel on again this week after getting my torsion bars adjusted, but plan on powdercoating the strips at a later date. If the panel needs to come off again I'll get them coated sooner!

I also have new door seals to fit but they can wait until the strips are finished.

The T-panel does not need to be removed. The top trim piece will slide back and slightly upwards to remove with the panel in place. I did the powder coating too and it is great.

If you remove the header panel across the top of the windshield, I'd highly advise that you don't drive the car until you reinstall it.

It holds the leading edge of the T-panel in place. The T-panel is also attached with (30-year-old) tape, and six screws behind the doors so it's not likely to blow off, but I'd be worried about what air catching the leading edge at 80 mph would do to it.

Yes.
Please see my pictures for the roof T panel in the thread below. DO NOT drive the DeLorean with the top windscreen trim removed and the T panel still on top. Wind will get under the loose T panel with the top trim removed and the wind will bend the T panel backwards. That T panel is not reinforced and can be easily bent.

Thanks guys, very glad to hear that!! I'll get the T panel back on this week. Need to hunt down some of that double sided foam tape.

There's no worries just yet about driving with the strip off - I can only get up to about 5 mph around the yard!! Still haven't got the insurance sorted so it's still off the roads.
